Most Likely Causes
- A broken torsion or extension spring
- Dead remote batteries or unplugged opener
- The door is locked or the disconnect is pulled
- Worn gears inside the opener
- The door is off its track
Quick Checks First
Make sure the opener is plugged in, the wall switch works, and the manual lock isn’t engaged. If you hear the motor run but the door doesn’t move, the opener gear or spring is the likely issue.
When to Call
If you see a gap in the spring or the door is too heavy to lift by hand, don’t force it — that’s a spring issue best handled by a pro. We can usually help the same day.
